The apple cake by the glass is a simple snack or breakfast cake made with fresh cream and apples that my grandmother used to make without using a scale. Flavored with orange and orange liqueur, it is very soft and fragrant; for children, feel free to omit the liqueur. You can also use a less refined flour such as type 1. Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 apples
  • 1 orange (grated zest)
  • 1 tablespoon orange liqueur (optional)

  • 2 Bowls
  • 1 Cake Pan
  • 1 Grater
  • 1 Knife

Steps

  • Grate the orange zest and set aside.
    Slice the apples after peeling and soak them in the orange juice.
    In a bowl, beat the eggs, add the sugar and grated orange zest.

    With a mixer, whip at the highest speed until the mixture is light and foamy. Lower the speed and slowly add the cream while continuing to whip.
    Add the sifted flour with the baking powder and gently fold it in using a spatula.
    Finally, add the orange liqueur.
    Pour into a 9-inch greased pan and decorate the top with apple slices.
    Bake for about 50 minutes at 350°F in a preheated static oven.
    Remove from the oven and let cool before dusting with powdered sugar.

Tips

Keep in a cake container for a maximum of 3-4 days.

Orange can be replaced with lemon, both for flavoring with grated zest and for soaking the apples with the juice.

To flavor the apples, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon.
