Digestive Spice Sugar Cubes

A wonderful idea to conclude lunch during big feasts is the Digestive Spice Sugar Cubes. I discovered this delight at a farmhouse, and at the end of the meal, they offered me these cubes with a unique alcoholic taste because they are flavored with star anise and other spices. The taste they leave in your mouth is delightful, and since they are very easy to prepare, I’ll explain the recipe in a few simple steps. If you want to prepare a Christmas gift for your guests, make small jars with some decoration and place them as placeholders… what do you think, will they be appreciated? Another recipe to prepare in advance for the holidays is the Licorice Liqueur Cream, which is also excellent.

  • 1 lemon (untreated peel)

Steps

  • Wash and dry very well the glass jar and its lid. Begin by layering some of the spices, juniper, star anise, cinnamon stick, vanilla pod, cloves, and lemon peel, alternating with sugar cubes until about an inch from the edge. Pour the 95° alcohol making sure all the cubes are immersed. If you like, you can add a few mint leaves. Close with the airtight lid (with the rubber seal), or if you have a jar with a metal cap, cover the mouth of the jar with plastic wrap before screwing to prevent oxidation with alcohol. Your jar of Digestive Spice Sugar Cubes is ready to be stored in the pantry and opened after 30 days.
