Neapolitan Style Baked Calamari
Baked Calamari in Neapolitan style, quick recipe! The calamari are seasoned in 10 minutes and baked directly for about 25 minutes, they come out very tender and tasty, even without frying.
Light summer recipe, absolutely worth trying! An easy and quick fish dish.
Purists, don’t be shocked; in the original recipe, even a bit of grated Parmesan is included among the ingredients, and this is the extra touch that makes these calamari special, though it is optional and can be omitted, but I recommend it.

Wash the calamari (already cleaned at the fish market) and cut them into rings, dry them very well with a clean towel.
Pit the green and black olives.
Cut the cherry tomatoes in half.
Prepare the seasoning: pour the calamari cut into rings, halved tomatoes, pitted olives, grated lemon, grated Parmesan (optional), salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs (about 1.4 oz) into a bowl and mix well.
Take a tray, cover it with parchment paper, spread a little oil and breadcrumbs, lay the calamari, well distributed in a single layer, with all their seasoning, and sprinkle the surface with more breadcrumbs, quality extra virgin olive oil, and pepper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F, in a static oven, for about 20-25 minutes (also depends on their size and your oven).
Serve the baked calamari hot, accompanied by a fresh salad with arugula.
Shopping Tips!!!
To cut the calamari and vegetables, I used this very handy cutting board with two side trays: one to collect the cut foods, the other to collect the scraps.
I pitted the olives in seconds with this handy pitter.
For this recipe, this set of 3 containers with airtight lids, 6.3 inches in diameter, was very useful. Dishwasher safe. Also microwave safe (without lids).

FAQ (Questions and Answers)
How to prevent calamari from becoming tough?
Fish in general should be cooked briefly, and calamari are no exception to this rule. A lot depends on their size, but generally, if they are grilled, it takes about 6-7 minutes, while in the oven about twenty minutes. The cooking should be quick and not prolonged, otherwise, they become rubbery.
Difference between squid, cuttlefish, and calamari?
First of all, they differ in shape: squid are smaller and rounder, calamari have elongated bodies, cuttlefish are oval.
Specifically, the difference between squid and calamari is that while calamari tentacles have only suckers, squid tentacles also have small hooks that allow them to catch prey better. Compared to calamari, squid have a sweeter flavor, but calamari are more expensive due to their prized and tender meat.
However, almost all recipes with these mollusks are interchangeable. How long do calamari last?
Calamari can be stored in the fridge in a container with a lid for about two days. If desired, you can reheat them by deglazing with a little dry white wine.
