When I think of tacos, images from Mexico come to mind, the country of origin for this typical culinary preparation. There are dozens of variations since, like a sandwich, you can put whatever you like inside.
The typical crescent shape gives it that unmistakable and unique visual characteristic and allows you to see which ingredients are inside. In this version, I used tortillas that I hardened in the oven in the shape of a taco and chose lemon-seasoned chicken, frozen fries cooked in an air fryer, and finally some tomato, onion, and melted cheddar cheese.
The result was quite appreciated at home by everyone in the family! Try preparing this fun dish yourself!

- 4 tortillas
- 1/2 Iceberg lettuce
- 2 shallots
- 5 cherry tomatoes
- 4 chicken breast slices
- 10.5 oz frozen pre-fried fries
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- to taste salt
- juice of 1 lemon
- 5 slices cheddar cheese slices
Tools
- Air fryer
Steps
To make the tacos with chicken, fries, and cheddar
First, turn on the oven and preheat it to 350°F – however, remove the rack beforehand for the next step
Next, place the rack on two side supports, raising it at least 4 inches off the surface – you can use various objects to help; I used two tins
Then, insert the tortillas using 2 bars of the rack, giving them an upside-down crescent shape – watch the video to better understand the procedure
At this point, when the oven has reached temperature, place the rack with the tortillas upside down in the middle of the oven and bake for 10 minutes
Next, finely chop the iceberg lettuce and dice the shallots. Do the same with the cherry tomatoes and set aside – meanwhile, cook the fries in the air fryer for 15 minutes at 400°F
Now, cut the chicken breast slices into strips, then brown them in a saucepan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. At halfway through, add the salt and lemon juice, then finish cooking until the liquid has completely evaporated
Finally, remove the tortillas from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes by repositioning the rack on the supports – take the fries out of the air fryer and place the cheese slices instead for 5 minutes at 350°F until melted
Lastly, assemble your taco by first adding the lettuce, followed by the fries, chicken, melted cheese, and the diced shallots and cherry tomatoes. You can also add your favorite sauce; I opted for a sweet and spicy one
Tip!
For making tacos, you can choose either flour or corn tortillas.
