Today, I offer you a fairly simple version that is enhanced by a caciocavallo topping and finally baked in an air fryer inside a baking dish. Let’s say it’s a great alternative to the simple pasta and peas dish that makes this classic unmissable a bit different from the usual while maintaining its essence.

Ingredients
For baked pasta and peas with caciocavallo
- 1 white onion
- as needed extra virgin olive oil
- 12 oz frozen peas
- 1 glass water
- as needed salt
- 7 oz short pasta
- 5 oz caciocavallo

Steps
To make baked pasta and peas with caciocavallo
First, chop the onion and then sauté it in a saucepan with some extra virgin olive oil
Then add the peas, water, salt, and cook covered over medium heat until the peas are cooked and tender (cooking time may vary greatly depending on the variety and brand)
Meanwhile, bring water to a boil in a pot, add salt, and proceed with cooking the pasta. Drain it when it’s al dente
Next, add the drained pasta to the saucepan with the peas and sauté over high heat for a few minutes, then transfer all the pasta to a baking dish
To complete, place slices of caciocavallo on the entire surface to cover all the pasta
Finally, place it in an air fryer setting the temperature to 390°F for about 10 minutes
Finally, once the baking dish with the baked pasta is out, wait a few minutes before serving
Tip!
Alternatively, you can use a traditional oven for baking, setting the temperature to the maximum for about 15 minutes. If caciocavallo is not available, you can use alternative cheeses like fontina or asiago.
