With a package of puff pastry left in the fridge, I made these quick savory croissants filled with three types of cheese: slices of smoked scamorza, grated Grana Padano, and a few slices of caciotta.
A quick appetizer, I would say, because in just a few minutes, I prepared this clever and tasty aperitif!
From each rectangular package of ready-made puff pastry, I cut out 6 squares, then filled, brushed with egg yolk, and sprinkled with sesame and poppy seeds.
This is the classic clever recipe to prepare a small APPETIZER flavorful and quick that we can vary according to our tastes and what we have in the fridge!

- Non-stick Baking Pans
- Brushes
- Parchment Paper

Steps
1) For this very easy and quick recipe for making filled croissants, first I preheat the oven to 375°F.
2) I roll out the puff pastry package on a surface and cut it into 6 squares of the same size.
3) I place a slice of smoked scamorza, a slice of Galbanino or caciotta, and finish with the grated cheese on each square.
4) From one corner, I roll up the filled puff pastry like cannoli, closing the sides a bit to prevent the cheeses from escaping (although some did escape, ha ha).
5) I arrange my quick savory croissants on the baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush them with the lightly beaten egg yolk using a kitchen brush.
6) I sprinkle the filled cheese cannoli with poppy and sesame seeds, then bake the tray in static mode for about 20 minutes or according to my home appliance’s features.
7) The cheese will melt, blending the different flavors, and once lukewarm… off to the table!
Enjoy your quick savory croissants!
