Chocolate Custard, a delicious recipe, easy to prepare, which I have scented with rum, but you can flavor it with orange or vanilla extract. A perfect cream to fill cream puffs, to accompany dry pastries, to be served as a dessert with a dollop of whipped cream, to enrich cakes and pies. It’s truly irresistible, like the super creamy custard!
Let’s get to work and prepare the chocolate custard together.

Steps for preparing chocolate custard
In a saucepan, mix the egg yolks with the sugar. Work with the whisk until you have a smooth cream. Add the flour or cornstarch (or also rice starch). Add a little milk and stir with a whisk to avoid lumps.
Add the remaining milk, the rum, and cook, always stirring, until the cream thickens. Roughly chop the dark chocolate and add it to the cream. Stir and let it rest for a couple of minutes, just the time for the heat of the cream to melt the chocolate.
Cover with contact cling film (BPA-free) and let cool. Remove the cling film. Stir the cream again and then place it in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours before serving.
Storage
You can store it for two or three days in the refrigerator.
