Microwave Chestnuts in 5 MINUTES

The microwave chestnuts are ready in 5 minutes and are easy to peel, no mess, and quick. A recipe that will surprise you with its simplicity and speed of execution.
Making roasted chestnuts at home is not always easy and the result is not guaranteed, which is why I recommend steaming in the microwave or boiled chestnuts.
It is better to use marroni: they have a thinner skin that does not go into the internal cavities of the pulp, making it more homogeneous and especially easier to remove.

Can you cook chestnuts in the microwave? Yes, watch the video on YouTube or follow my instructions. HERE are the properties, calories, health benefits, and contraindications of chestnuts.

SEASON of #chestnuts and #marroni – from September to December.

The best period for harvesting, in the woods on the hills or in the mountains, is from the end of October to all of November. The fruit grows in spiny burrs that fall on the grass below when ripe, sometimes partially opening, sometimes remaining closed without any opening.
How to extract chestnuts from their burrs? Step on them – crush them with shoes until the chestnuts come out.

Microwave Chestnuts IN 5 MINUTES

  • PREPARE the CHESTNUTS or MARRONI

First, score all the chestnuts with the tip of a short and sharp knife on the rounded part. Try to make a shallow and long cut without cutting into the flesh.

Then place them in plenty of room temperature water with a tablespoon of coarse salt for at least 15 minutes, but you can also forget them soaking all day.

    COOKING the MARRONI – CHESTNUTS

Drain the chestnuts from the liquid and without drying them, place about thirteen, spaced out, on a microwave-safe plate, with the cut facing up.

Cook at maximum power 750W for 3 minutes. For a more roasted result, use the grill function in the last minute.

With the Crisp pan – plate, the 13 chestnuts cook in just 2 minutes.

Once the time is up, leave them for a few more minutes in the turned-off microwave.

Once removed from the oven, peel them while still hot.

To keep them warm, you can wrap them in a cloth, a fabric napkin, or a paper bag.

IMPORTANT: if you increase the number of chestnuts in the microwave, you need to increase the cooking time as well.

How long do you need to cook the marroni? In 3 minutes at 750 W, you can cook a maximum of 13 chestnuts.
