QUICK RINGS WITH SEEDS AND FLAVORS

Quick rings with seeds and flavors ready to eat after 10/15 minutes of baking, perfect for accompanying the APERITIF and also to be stuffed (though I would personally make small sandwiches, not rings).

The recipe is by Natalia Cattellani and is more than quick and incredibly easy, even for the inexperienced!

The dough contains very few ingredients, and with the flour, the instant yeast for savory preparations, a touch of butter, you also add a tablespoon or a little more of potato flakes, wisely rehydrated in boiling water!

Summer is approaching (in Bologna you still need a little jacket if you go out at 7 in the morning though) and this type of sandwich, appetizer is ready in less than 30 minutes and we can make it even if the summer heat arrives!

Ingredients for QUICK RINGS WITH SEEDS AND FLAVORS

  • 0.7 oz potato flakes (to rehydrate with 3.5 oz of boiling water)
  • 1 oz butter (soft)
  • 3.9 oz all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 teaspoon instant yeast for savory preparations
  • to taste aromatic herbs (as desired)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste mixed seeds (flax, pumpkin, etc., as desired)

Steps

  • 1) As I mentioned above, the recipe is really a breeze, just make sure to rehydrate the potato flakes with boiling water and let the mash cool down.

    2) Preheat the oven to 350°F and in a bowl, combine the flour, soft butter, salt, and the cooled potato flakes previously rehydrated in a small bowl with boiling water.

    3) Start mixing and add the yeast for savory preparations and plenty of finely chopped washed aromatic herbs (I used sage and parsley, but you can use rosemary, oregano, chives …).

    4) Mix well, and the ingredients quickly form a soft dough that doesn’t stick to your hands and …

    5) Roll into small logs as if making gnocchi and then form the rings: for each, I weighed about 60 grams (2.1 oz) of dough!

    6) Wet each ring with water, then cover with the seeds of your choice and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

    7) Bake now for about 10/15 minutes or depending on your appliance’s characteristics.

    8) Let cool and we are ready to serve the super quick savory rings with aromatic herbs and seeds!

    9) I prepared an aperitif with STUFFED PEPPERS, melon slices, SUN-DRIED tomatoes in oil, a burratina, olives, grilled vegetables, and COLD PASTA!
