Steps for Preparing Cheesy Potato Burgers

Peel the potatoes, cut them into chunks and either boil or steam them after lightly salting them. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg while still warm, then mash them with a fork or potato masher and let them cool.

  • When they are cool, add the egg, grated cheese, and enough breadcrumbs to have a firm, non-sticky mixture.

  • Flatten portions of the mixture in your hands. Place sliced scamorza cheese in the center and shape the burgers, making sure to wrap all the cheese. Place the burgers on a plate sprinkled with breadcrumbs. Brown the burgers for a few minutes on each side in a pan with a drizzle of oil. Serve them hot.

Storage

You can store the burgers, both before and after cooking them in the pan, for a couple of days.
