Egg white cake, a delicately flavored dessert, very simple to make and great to pair with a nice cappuccino in the morning or a delightful tea. Every time I prepare custard or the cream for making tiramisu’, I have leftover egg whites and I’m always undecided on how to use them. This time, I decided to make this delicious egg white cake also adding some jam and berries which make it even better. I love berries but if you don’t, you can omit them. The result was surprising, a melt-in-the-mouth dessert, delicate and interspersed with jam that slightly falls down and fits really well!! So when you have leftover egg whites, don’t throw them away but try this delicious cake. Let’s see what we need to make the egg white and jam cake.

EGG WHITE CAKE WITH JAM A DELICATE AND TASTY DESSERT PERFECT FOR A SWEET BREAK DURING THE DAY

  • 6 egg whites
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 7 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • grated lemon zest
  • jam
  • berries (optional)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Steps

LET’S PREPARE THE EGG WHITE CAKE

  • Beat the egg whites very well and set them aside. In a bowl, mix the milk and sugar with a hand whisk, then add the oil, aroma, and flour with the baking powder and finally also add the egg whites a little at a time, mixing gently from bottom to top. Pour the batter into a cake pan, I used a mold about 9 inches, add a bit of jam on top, it needs to be very cold from the refrigerator, and if you like, you can add some berries. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes but always adjust according to your oven and do the toothpick test. Once baked, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
