Savory Fritters, an easy and quick finger food. Perfect to serve as an appetizer, perhaps accompanied by cold cuts and cheeses.
The recipe is very similar to that of ham and cheese fritters. If you like them, try also the version with zucchini fritters. They are made with only three ingredients that we all have at home: water, flour, and yeast. Additionally, there are countless variations, both sweet and savory. The sweet ones can be served with powdered sugar or chocolate spread.
For the savory version, you can add cubes of mortadella or bacon. A typical Neapolitan variant includes seaweed. The savory fritters are so good that they will be gone in no time! Save the recipe and let me know if you try them.

Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 tsp instant dry yeast
- 1 3/4 cups water
- 1 tsp salt
- quart vegetable oil
How to prepare savory fritters
Place the flour in a bowl along with the yeast.
Start pouring the water at room temperature and finally add the salt.
Mix well with a whisk until you get a smooth and well-blended mixture, cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 1 hour.
After the resting time, heat plenty of oil in a large pot, once the oil reaches 356°F (180°C), use two spoons to scoop the batter and fry the fritters a few at a time.
Storage and tips for savory fritters
Like all fried foods, it’s best to consume them immediately. You can serve the fritters on a serving tray along with olives, salami, and burrata.
