Baked pearl onions are a very appetizing side dish to accompany meat or fish dishes 🙂
Onions are another type of vegetable often used in cooking: in sautés, to flavor first and second courses, and even in savory pies.
Their flavor enhances any dish you prepare 😉 and I also use them often.
I like any variety of onions: red, white, golden, and borettane.
Today for lunch I prepared borettane onions by baking them.
They are delicious and made very simply with few ingredients that you usually always have at home: a little oil, water, and salt.
Since one leads to another, I suggest making abundant portions: I used 500 g but I think for 4 people you would need 1 kg.
If you have aromatic herbs, you can add them as you like: thyme, bay leaf, rosemary, oregano, etc.
P.S.: Other recipes I recommend trying are:
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 500 g
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Spring, Summer
Ingredients for Baked Pearl Onions

- 1 pinch salt
- to taste pepper
Tools
- 1 Baking Dish
- 1 Knife
Steps for Baked Pearl Onions
Peel and wash the pearl onions well.
Take a baking dish and distribute the whole pearl onions well spread out so they cook well. Pour in the water, oil, salt, and pepper.
Preheat the oven to 392°F in static mode and bake for about 50 – 60 minutes or until they become golden. Turn them halfway through cooking.
The cooking time is indicative and depends on the size of the pearl onions: they are done when they start to caramelize.
Serve the baked pearl onions hot.
Have a nice continuation and good evening to everyone 😀
