Ingredients
- 3 pears (small)
- 3 walnuts
- Half tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground ginger (optional)
- 1 slice lemon
- 2 sprigs lemon thyme (or thyme, marjoram, rosemary, as desired)
- honey (optional)
Tools
- Baking Dish
- Melon Baller
- Nutcracker
Steps
Wash the pears well, dry them and cut them in half, removing the stem.
Using a round melon baller, remove the seeds inside, then gently rub with a slice of lemon to prevent the pulp from browning.
Place the pears in a baking dish, without overlapping them.
Crack open the walnuts and place half a nut on each pear, where you scooped out the seeds.
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar with a pinch of cinnamon and ginger (optional).
Sprinkle the pears with the mixture, and add 1-2 sprigs of lemon thyme in the baking dish for flavor.
Put everything in a preheated static oven at 356°F (180°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
Cooking times vary depending on the size and ripeness of the pears and your personal preference. Check doneness with a skewer or fork.
Baked pears are ready, optionally drizzle with a bit of honey to make them sweeter and add a bit of shine on the surface.
Tips and Notes
Baked pears are excellent either warm or at room temperature.
If you have leftovers, place them in a sealed container and store in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
FAQ

Any variety will do, but I recommend choosing medium-small sized fruits because they will cook more evenly and faster.
The pears should be ripe, but still firm.Do I need to peel the pears?
I recommend using organic or untreated pears so you can leave the skin on. However, you can peel them if you prefer.
