STRACCIATELLA FLAVOR OVERNIGHT OATS
We have learned by now, breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives us the right energy and strength to better face the various tasks.
Today I present you this recipe for an Oat Flakes, Milk, and Greek Yogurt Breakfast, a sort of Porridge that is prepared in very little time, rich in energy and taste, the STRACCIATELLA FLAVOR OVERNIGHT OATS.
A nice cup of this dessert of Anglo-Saxon origins and we will be ready to face the challenges of the day whether in the office, at school, at home for housework, or for those who can, to be tourists through villages and cities.
For those who don’t know, Overnight Porridge is a variant of the classic Anglo-Saxon recipe that requires no cooking, perfect for those who have little time or don’t want to cook. It is prepared in advance, usually the night before, left in the refrigerator for a night, and upon waking, it is ready to be enjoyed with the topping of your choice.
An extremely easy recipe: oat flakes are mixed with milk or water, Greek yogurt, flavored to taste with vanilla, and sweetened with honey. Once mixed, the mixture does not need to be cooked, it just needs to be placed in the fridge to rest for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
You can also watch the video inside the recipe to follow each step, even if I assure you it is really easy and I’m sure you won’t need it.
Once ready, you will only have to choose whether to layer it or not with your favorite yogurt, spreadable creams, and garnish it with the Topping you prefer because there are endless delicious possibilities.
In today’s recipe, I created a first layer with Porridge, a second made of vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt to which I added chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate) and finished decorating with crumbled cocoa cookies and more chocolate chips.
You will see how this no-cook Porridge cup will satiate you, without making you feel too heavy, for a long time and you will reach lunchtime without that annoying feeling of hunger.
And if during the day you feel peckish or even in the evening after dinner you want to treat yourself to a dessert, this dessert will be perfect.
So what are you waiting for, let’s start preparing it together!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup oat flakes
- 1/2 cup of water (or plant-based drink or cow's milk)
- 1 tsp honey (or maple syrup)
- 1/2 cup 0% fat Greek yogurt
- 1/3 cup 0% fat Greek yogurt
- 1 pinch vanilla essence
- 1/8 cup chocolate chips
- 2 cocoa cookies
- chocolate chips (for decoration)
Tools
- Bowl
- 2 Bowls
Steps
In a bowl, mix together oat flakes, honey, yogurt, and almond milk (or cow’s milk or another plant-based drink) until combined. Transfer the mixture into a single-serve bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
After resting and before consuming, finish the preparation. In a bowl, put the yogurt, vanilla essence, and mix. Then add the chocolate chips and incorporate them with a spatula. Pour everything over the oat layer and level with the back of a spoon.
Crumble the cookies with your fingers then distribute them at the edges on top of the Yogurt layer. Decorate to taste with chocolate chips.
NOTES
WATER For an even creamier porridge, you can replace the water with the same quantity of cow’s milk or plant-based drink (soy, almond, oat, rice).
HONEY You can replace honey with maple syrup or sweetener for a light version.
VANILLA It’s amazing how a pinch of this essence can enhance the flavor of your Porridge, but if you don’t love this spice, you can omit it.
OVERNIGHT REST: Let the oats rest in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the oats to soften to the perfect consistency.
STRACCIATELLA YOGURT: You can achieve it simply by mixing yogurt with vanilla essence and then adding chocolate chips or by purchasing Stracciatella flavored Yogurt from the supermarket. Alternatively, use ricotta cheese in the same quantity instead of Yogurt.
STORAGE
The Stracciatella flavor OVERNIGHT OATS can be prepared the night before for the next day, and it will be even better. Once ready, it can be stored in the fridge closed in a container for up to 2 days.
FAQ (Questions and Answers)
How can I achieve the right consistency of Oat Flakes?
To achieve the perfect consistency of oats, it’s all about the oats/liquid ratio. Generally, a 1:2 ratio works well. If the oats are too thick, add a little more liquid; if they are too liquid, reduce the quantity of milk/water slightly next time.
How can I balance the sweetness when adding fruit and topping to Oat Flakes?
Overnight Oats can be too sweet in some combinations (e.g., with hazelnut or pistachio cream). Keep this in mind when deciding how to layer it and possibly taste a spoonful before adding extra sweeteners like honey or maple syrup.
Can I heat my Overnight Oats or should it be eaten cold?
Overnight Oats are traditionally consumed cold or at room temperature, but if you prefer it warm, you can heat it for a few seconds in the microwave.
