The coffee granita with shaken coffee and cream is a delicious, fresh, and indulgent dessert, perfect for hot days, a summer treat that’s very popular in the south.
This refreshing delight is traditionally enjoyed at cafes or ice cream parlors, but can also be made and enjoyed at home without any machines.
The granita is best savored simply by itself, or accompanied by classic brioche col tuppo or dollops of cream, excellent for breakfast, a snack, or after a meal.
My recipe is very simple and is made with moka coffee and powdered sugar, all shaken and then placed in the freezer, stirred from time to time, and then enjoyed as soon as it’s ready!
You can use moka coffee, Neapolitan coffee, espresso with capsules or pods, as long as it’s good and high quality to fully enjoy the intense coffee aroma.
As the hot days arrive, delight yourself with a good glass of this delightful granita alternated with frozen layers of coffee and soft whipped cream, a true delight for the palate!

Preparation for Coffee Granita with Shaken Coffee and Cream
Prepare the coffee with a three-cup moka pot, roughly 1 cup of coffee.
While hot, add the powdered sugar, stir well, and shake the coffee until the sugar dissolves.Place the container in the freezer for about 1 hour, then shake it again until it’s nice and frothy, finally pour into a glass bowl and return to the fridge for about 2 hours.
Take it out of the freezer and stir everything every 2 hours. It will take around 6/8 hours, continue stirring the bowl with the coffee until the icy pieces break apart.
Whip the very cold cream and prepare the granita in glasses, alternating a spoonful of cream with coffee granita.Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream, coffee beans, and a dusting of unsweetened cocoa to make this dessert even more tempting.
Serve the granita as is or accompany it with some cookies or brioche col tuppo!
