YOGURT AND OATS FLAKES (PORRIDGE OVERNIGHT OATS) CASSATA FLAVOR

PORRIDGE OVERNIGHT OATS CASSATA FLAVOR
We have learned that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gives us the right energy and strength to better face various tasks.
Today I present you this recipe for a Breakfast of Oats Flakes, Milk, and Greek Yogurt, a kind of Porridge that is prepared in no time, rich in energy and taste, the PORRIDGE OVERNIGHT OATS with SICILIAN CASSATA flavor.
A nice cup of this Anglo-Saxon dessert and we will be ready to face the challenges of the day, whether it’s at the office, school, home for housework, or, for those who can afford it, sightseeing towns and cities.
For those who don’t know, Overnight Porridge is a variation of the classic Anglo-Saxon recipe that doesn’t require cooking, perfect for those with little time or no desire to cook. It is prepared in advance, usually the night before, left in the fridge for a night, and upon waking up, it is ready to be enjoyed with the topping of your choice.
An incredibly easy recipe: the oat flakes are mixed with milk or water, Greek yogurt, flavored with vanilla, and sweetened with honey. Once mixed, there’s no need to cook it, just place it in the fridge to rest for at least 4 hours, better if overnight.
You can also watch the video inside the recipe to follow every step, although I assure you it’s really easy, and I’m sure you won’t need it.
Once ready, you just have to decide whether to layer it with yogurt of your favorite flavor, spreadable creams, and garnish it with the Topping of your choice because there are endless delicious possibilities.
In today’s recipe, I’ve created a first layer with the Porridge, a second made with ricotta enriched with chocolate chips and candied orange peel, and finished with a light layer of Pistachio cream.
You will see how this no-bake Porridge cup will satiate you, without weighing you down too much, for a long time and you will reach lunch without that annoying sense of hunger.
And if during the day you get a craving or even in the evening after dinner you want to treat yourself to a dessert, this spoon dessert will be perfect.
What are you waiting for then? Let’s start preparing it together!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oat flakes
  • 1/2 cup water (or plant-based milk or cow's milk)
  • 1 tsp honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1/2 cup 0% fat Greek yogurt
  • 3.5 oz ricotta (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1/2 packet vanillin
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 oz dark chocolate chips
  • 1/3 oz candied orange peel
  • 1 oz pistachio cream
  • toasted pistachios (for decoration)
  • candied orange peel (for decoration)
  • dark chocolate chips (for decoration)

Tools

  • Bowl
  • 2 Cups

Steps

  • In a bowl, mix together oats, honey, yogurt, and almond milk (or cow’s milk or other plant-based drink) until combined. Transfer the mixture into a single-serving cup and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  • After resting, finish the preparation before consuming it. In a bowl, put the ricotta, vanillin, powdered sugar, and mix with a fork. Then add dark chocolate chips and candied orange peel and mix again until well combined. Pour everything over the oats layer and level with the back of a spoon.

  • Soften the Pistachio cream for 20 seconds in the microwave, then spread it evenly over the Ricotta cream layer. Decorate as you like with chocolate chips, pistachios, and candied orange.

NOTES

WATER For an even creamier porridge, you can replace the water with an equal amount of cow’s milk or plant-based drink (soy, almond, oats, rice).

HONEY You can replace honey with maple syrup or sweetener for a light version.

RICOTTA: For a light version, you can replace the ricotta with an equal amount of 0% Greek yogurt.

VANILLA It’s amazing how a pinch of this essence can enhance the taste of your Porridge, but if you don’t like this spice, you can omit it.

OVERNIGHT REST: Let the oats rest in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to blend and the oats to soften to the perfect consistency.

STORAGE

The CASSATA FLAVOR OVERNIGHT OATS Porridge can be prepared the night before for the next day, and it will be even better. Once ready, it can be stored in the fridge in a container for up to 2 days.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • How can I achieve the right consistency of Oat Flakes?

To achieve the perfect consistency of the oats, it’s all about the oat/liquid ratio. Generally, a 1:2 ratio works well. If the oats are too thick, add a little more liquid, or if they are too thin, slightly reduce the amount of milk/water next time.

  • How can I balance the sweetness when adding fruit and topping to the Oat Flakes?

Overnight Oats Flakes may be too sweet with some pairings (e.g., with hazelnut or pistachio cream). Keep this in mind when deciding how to layer it and possibly taste a spoon before adding extra sweeteners like honey or maple syrup.

  • Can I heat my Porridge Overnight Oats, or should it be eaten cold?

Porridge Overnight Oats is traditionally consumed cold or at room temperature, but if you prefer it warm, you can heat it for a few seconds in the microwave.
