Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons oat flakes (regular, whole or flavored)
  • 1 tablespoon bitter cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon honey (maple syrup or sweetener)
  • 1/2 cup milk (or plant-based drink)
  • 4.4 oz fat-free Greek yogurt
  • as needed hazelnut protein cream
  • sliced almonds (or hazelnut crumbs)

Tools

  • Bowl

Steps

  • Put the oat flakes, bitter cocoa, honey, and milk (or plant-based drink) in a bowl. Mix with a spoon and let it rest for 2-3 minutes to allow the oat flakes to absorb the liquid part.

  • In a glass or a cup, alternate a layer of porridge with one of Greek yogurt in your preferred flavor (I use vanilla). You should make 2 layers of porridge and 2 of yogurt in total.

  • Optionally, finish with a layer of chocolate protein cream or hazelnut cream and a sprinkle of sliced toasted almonds or hazelnut crumbs. You could also enjoy it immediately, but if you let it sit in the fridge for 2 hours, it will be even better.

NOTES

OAT FLAKES: There are several types of oat flakes available, for this preparation in particular I bought the hazelnut-flavored ones, but the regular ones are perfectly fine as well.

HONEY: Instead of honey, you can use maple syrup or, if you prefer, a sweetener, preferably in liquid form to better blend with the mixture.

MILK: The amount of milk is indicative as each type of oat flakes has a different absorption capacity. Start with 1/2 cup and adjust based on the consistency. I recommend pouring it into the warm mixture (heating it in the microwave is fine). Instead of cow’s milk, any other plant-based drink (soy, almond, oat) can be used, but try to choose one without added sugars.

GREEK YOGURT: Greek yogurt is preferable to regular yogurt for its thicker and creamier consistency. As for the flavor, you can choose classic natural, low-fat, or flavored ones. In today’s recipe, I preferred the vanilla-flavored one.

GARNISH: You don’t have to add the garnish although I think it’s very delicious. There are various alternatives: chocolate protein cream, hazelnut cream, pistachio cream, or your favorite. The same goes for decoration with hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, etc.

STORAGE

The Kinder slice of milk flavored porridge can be prepared in advance, and if you do it the night before for the next day’s breakfast, it’s even better. It keeps in the fridge for up to 2 days.
