Basil Butter

Basil butter; easy to prepare and great to use in many different ways: spread on bruschette or canapés, for an appetizer or an aperitif, or to flavor meat, fish, or vegetable dishes.

Have you ever wondered how to make butter at home? Making butter at home is very easy. All you need are electric beaters and 500 ml (about 2 cups) of fresh cream, the kind you find in the refrigerated section

We just need to whip the cream with the electric beaters or with a mixer.

The preparation of homemade butter takes about 20 minutes, during which you need to whip the cream, let it overwhip, and continue beating until the solid part separates from the liquid part.

The solid part is the butter, which we need to pat dry and then compact in a mold. The liquid part left at the bottom is the  buttermilk, which we can use in many sweet and savory recipes.

But now let’s go to the kitchen and I’ll show you how to make Basil Butter

  • Continue to whip the cream until it breaks. Continue further until the fat and solid part of the mixture sticks to the beaters. The liquid part remaining at the bottom is the buttermilk

Take the butter with your hands and squeeze it well to remove all excess buttermilk.

At this point, the basil butter is already ready, and you can shape it as you like.

Marge’s Tips
