Honey and Chocolate Cookies. Butter-Free Recipe

One leads to another… The honey and chocolate cookies without butter are so delicious that it’s hard to eat just one. They are soft cookies with an irresistible taste and aroma. They contain no butter, no sugar, no baking powder, and they are still delicious, very easy to make, and can be personalized in both ingredients and shape. We can enjoy them at breakfast, as a snack, or as an accompaniment to coffee and tea. The honey and chocolate cookies were born from my imagination and the desire to create something delicious that, at the same time, wasn’t necessarily and excessively high in calories and heavy.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Medium
  • Rest time: 1 Hour
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 40 cookies
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Fall, Winter, and Spring

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 oz honey
  • 7 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 2 medium whole eggs
  • 3.5 oz dark chocolate
  • to taste grated orange zest
  • 1 pinch fine salt

Preparation

  • In a bowl, put the honey and eggs. Mix with a whisk or a fork until smooth and well combined.

Add the sifted flour, fine salt, grated orange zest, oil (pour it little by little, because not all flours absorb liquids in the same measure and you might need a little less or more than I indicated), and the chopped chocolate (chocolate chips are also fine).

Knead the ingredients until you get a firm dough.

Flour the work table and roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the cookies into the desired shapes and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Put the tray in the fridge for an hour.

After the time has elapsed, turn on the oven and set it to 350°F.

The cookies should be baked in a preheated oven, at middle height, for about 20 minutes. Baking times may vary from oven to oven, especially if you are baking both top and bottom simultaneously.

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely before enjoying. They will be very soft when freshly baked; as they cool, they will become firmer. They can be stored in a tin box or a glass container with a hermetic seal.
