  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Cooking time: 10 Minutes
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 10 slices cooked ham
  • 5.6 oz canned tuna in oil
  • 2 tbsps mayonnaise
  • to taste salted capers

Tools

  • Bowl
  • Small Pot
  • Fork

Steps

  • First, prepare the boiled eggs: put the eggs in a saucepan, cover them with cold water, and bring them to a boil. From this moment, cook them for about 10/12 minutes. Turn off the heat, place the pot in the sink under running water, and let the eggs cool completely before peeling them.

  • Once cooled, clean the eggs, cut them in half with a knife, and remove the yolks.

Put the yolks of the boiled eggs, mayonnaise, well-drained tuna, and capers in the mixer bowl and blend everything to obtain a homogeneous cream. Taste and adjust the salt if necessary.

  • Lay the slices of cooked ham on a cutting board, then distribute a generous spoonful of tuna sauce in the center of the slice. Roll the ham onto itself to form a roll.

Place the Ham Rolls with Tuna Sauce on a serving dish, cover them with plastic wrap, and let them rest in the fridge for about 20 minutes before serving to allow the tuna sauce to slightly solidify.

NOTES

To have perfect rolls, drain the tuna very well before using it to prevent the tuna sauce from becoming too liquid and therefore leaking out of the rolls.

For the same reason, before serving, let them rest for at least 20 minutes in the fridge so that the filling slightly solidifies.

COOKED HAM: With the same procedure, you can stuff slices of raw ham or bresaola, whatever cold cut you decide to use, you will get excellent and tasty rolls with tuna sauce. The only recommendation is to use slices that are not too thin to prevent them from breaking and letting the filling leak out.

CAPERS: you can add them chopped to the Tuna Sauce or alternatively use chopped olives (green or black). Even chopped arugula goes well with this filling.

STORAGE

The Ham Rolls with Tuna Sauce can be stored in the fridge, closed in an airtight container, for up to 2 days. This preparation is not suitable for freezing.
