Ingredients
With these ingredients, you can prepare 4 large Apple roses or 6 smaller ones.
- 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
- 1 apple
- apricot jam
- raisins
- 1 lemon
- granulated sugar
- cinnamon (optional)
- 1 egg
- powdered sugar
- brown sugar
Tools
- Muffin tin
- Rolling pin
- Brush
- Powdered Sugar Duster
Steps
Start with the preparation of the apples as they need to cool before using them in the recipe. You can use the apples you prefer, the procedure is the same. Cut the apples in half, remove the core, and slice thinly.
Place them in a pan, add the juice of one lemon, a generous tablespoon of sugar, cover with water, and cook for about 5 minutes. Once cooked, place the individual slices on a sheet of parchment paper and let them cool. Meanwhile, soak a handful of raisins in water without turning the heat back on.
Take the rectangular pastry and roll it slightly with the rolling pin (it will rise better during baking 😉 ). Cut the pastry from the shorter side into 4 or 6 strips depending on the size you want for your Apple roses.
Spread the strips with jam and then place the apple slices on the top half of the strip. Drain and squeeze the raisins you placed in water and distribute them over the apples. Add the brown sugar and, if you like, a pinch of cinnamon, then close the puff pastry strip by folding the empty part over the filled part and apply gentle pressure on both ends.
Preheat the oven to a temperature of 356°F (180°C) and continue with the recipe. Place a handful of rice at the bottom of the tart molds or muffin molds and cover with parchment paper.
Roll up the strips on themselves and place them in the center of the mold. Beat an egg with a pinch of salt, then brush the entire surface of the Apple roses. Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes on the middle rack or for the time indicated on the puff pastry package if different or until golden brown.
Once baked, once they have cooled slightly, dust with powdered sugar and serve.
Simple, quick, and spectacular!
