When I was little, you could tell it was Sunday by two things: my mom would prepare the sauce and dad would come home with pastries… Today, I made it with meatballs! I made 24, and just like when I was little, I stole one before adding the tomato!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Medium
- Preparation time: 30 Minutes
- Cooking time: 1 Hour
- Portions: 24 meatballs
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 Tomato puree
- 1 Chopped tomatoes
- 1.1 lbs Beef (ground)
- Breadcrumbs
- Parmesan cheese
- Salt
- Pepper
- Parsley
- Garlic
- Olive oil
- 3 Eggs
Preparation
Meatballs in sauce.
Simple and tasty, they prepare quickly and are a great idea for your menu.
Season the ground meat with 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, 3 of parmesan, and the minced garlic. Work the mixture with your hands until it’s fully absorbed. Add a teaspoon of salt, pepper, and parsley and continue to work.
Finally, add the eggs and mix the ingredients. Let the mixture rest for a few minutes, then form the balls. Roll them in breadcrumbs and leave them well spaced on a surface.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in the pan and when it’s hot, add the meatballs. The oil should cover about halfway up the meatballs. When you see a crispy surface forming, turn them over and let them cook on the other side. Occasionally, use a spoon to move the meatballs in a circular motion in the pan. This way they will cook evenly and maintain their round shape.
The meatballs are also good to eat just like that! Let’s continue with the preparation of the meatballs in sauce. Take a tall pot and prepare a sauté. Add the meatballs and let them brown for a minute.
Add the tomato puree and chopped tomatoes, adjust the salt, and let cook on low heat with the lid on for about 30 minutes.
The meatballs will be soft and flavorful and will not break during cooking.
The meatballs in sauce are delicious! I suggest you prepare some pasta, dress it with the sauce, and serve it with the meatballs! You’ll make an impression!
