Today we’re making a truly tasty dish in no time at all.
A few years ago, I discovered snow peas. I wanted to get some legumes and I saw the jar of cut and ready-to-cook snow peas. They look like flatter and wider green beans, but they are actually a variety of peas. Considered a cross between legumes and vegetables for their nutritional properties, they are rich in fiber and vitamins.
In the recipe I’m presenting to you, we’ll use them as a topping for the pasta.

Take a large pot and heat the water.
Meanwhile, in a non-stick pan, pour a drizzle of olive oil and a jar of drained snow peas. Season with chopped parsley, adjust the salt, and stir. Add the diced cooked ham and continue cooking, stirring for a few minutes.
Pour 2 ladles of cooking water, a bit of pepper, and let it cook until almost absorbed then turn off the heat and leave covered.
Preheat the oven to 356°F and continue with the preparation.
When the water reaches a boil, add the pasta and cook until al dente (slightly before the time indicated on the package).
At this point, drain and dress with the mixture from the pan. Add the béchamel sauce and then mix to combine the ingredients well.
Transfer the dressed pasta to a large and deep baking dish and cover the surface with plenty of Parmesan cheese.
Put the pasta in the oven (which will have reached the temperature) and turn it off. The pasta is already cooked, this way the cheese melts and stays warm. Just before dinner, turn on the grill for 10-15 minutes, or until the surface is nicely browned, and then serve. This is, of course, if the preparation is done a long time before. If you’re going to eat it right away, use the grill function immediately.
I recommend trying it with cherry tomatoes as well. You need about twenty of them. Cut them in half and add them to the pan along with the cooked ham in cubes. Then follow the steps outlined above.
When you pour it into the baking dish, also add some fresh basil leaves.
Try both and let me know which version you prefer!
For simplicity and time reasons, I used pre-cooked snow peas, but of course, you can use fresh ones.
First, wash the pods with cold water, then remove the ends and the fibrous side part. Cook in plenty of salted water for 10 minutes.
For this recipe, you need to cut them into smaller pieces so they mix better with the other ingredients.
