The Puff Pastry Fans in Air Fryer are simple puff pastry treats, quick and easy to make. A last-minute dessert when you don’t have much available to prepare a dessert or if you don’t have all the necessary ingredients at home, but like me, dessert should never be missing.
To prepare the Puff Pastry Fans in the Fryer, you only need 2 ingredients: a rectangular puff pastry roll and sugar, and you’re done. Simply brush the pastry with water and sprinkle with granulated sugar. For a more indulgent version, you can enrich them with chocolate chips or jam, as in my recipe for Puff Pastry Donuts with Figs, Nut Crumbles, and Chocolate Chips… delicious! But now let’s prepare the Puff Pastry Fans in the air fryer

Steps
Unroll the pastry on a work surface and prepare a glass of room temperature water
Brush the surface with water and sprinkle sugar all over the pastry. Flip the pastry, using another sheet of parchment paper, and brush and sprinkle sugar on the other side
Roll up the pastry from one of the short sides, using the parchment paper if necessary
Try to tighten a bit as you roll
Now slice the pastry into 1/2 inch rolls approximately
Use a knife to make a small incision halfway through the roll, starting from the center
Slightly pinch the ends with your fingers to shape them into a teardrop
Arrange all the rolls on the tray or rack of your fryer. Place them spaced apart so they don’t stick together during cooking
Cook using the Air Fry setting at 338°F for 11 minutes
Let them cool slightly, but not too much, before removing them from the tray or rack. To prevent the fans from sticking to the tray or rack, don’t wait too long to transfer them to a plate; once the sugar cools, it will act as glue, and you’ll struggle to remove them

Tips and Storage for Puff Pastry Fans in Air Fryer
You can replace the granulated white sugar with cane sugar and, if you like, you can sprinkle the fans with powdered sugar.
I recommend consuming the fans warm. The puff pastry stays crisp when freshly made; if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container for a couple of days
FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Can puff pastry fans be cooked in the oven or only in the air fryer?
If you don’t have an Air Fryer, you can bake them in a fan-assisted oven at 375°F for about 15 minutes, obviously after preheating it
