Chickpea hummus with paprika is a smooth cream made from chickpeas and tahini prepared with white sesame seeds, toasted and blended.
It is the tahini that, when added in small amounts to the hummus, gives it the typical aroma.
Hummus is a very ancient Lebanese recipe usually flavored with extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, and you can also add paprika powder or cumin seeds to give a tasty touch to this appetizer.
Chickpea hummus is a very appetizing and tasty cream perfect when accompanied with unleavened bread, on bruschetta, or alongside vegetable crudités or to accompany main dishes such as roasts, fish, cheese.
It’s very easy to prepare, you’ll find the recipe after the photo!

Preparation for Chickpea Hummus with Paprika
To prepare the tahini, toast the sesame seeds in a non-stick pan for about 5 minutes, stirring them with a spoon a couple of times, making sure they don’t burn. Transfer the seeds to a blender, add the oil, and blend into a cream.
You can also use the ready-made tahini available in stores.Proceed with the preparation of the chickpeas; you can use canned precooked ones or follow this procedure here.
In the mixer glass, pour the cooked chickpeas, 2 tablespoons of tahini, the lemon juice, garlic, oil, and a pinch of salt. Blend well until creamy. If you want an even smoother and silkier cream, I recommend removing the skin from the chickpeas; I left it on.
Once you have achieved the right consistency, pour the cream into a bowl, complete the presentation with a bit of parsley, paprika powder, and a drizzle of olive oil.
Serve the hummus as an appetizer with soft bread or pita or toasted bread like bruschetta.
Tips and Variations
Tahini can be found ready-made in supermarkets and ethnic stores, it keeps in the refrigerator for a month when stored in an airtight container and covered with a thin layer of oil.
