Creamy Penne with Ground Beef and Artichokes

Artichoke season and I’m crazy about them, so I take the opportunity to cook them in every way.
Today I propose this first course creamy penne with ground beef and artichokes, a simple and easy recipe to make, prepared with white ragù and artichokes that make this dish very rich, tasty, and creamy.

It’s a recipe that my aunt always makes, eaten at her house a long time ago, and since my family liked it so much, I decided to make it too!

If you love artichokes like me, follow me in the recipe and prepare this first course which is very good and substantial, you can also use a different type of pasta, even some delicious fresh tagliatelle would work perfectly!

Ingredients for creamy penne with ground beef and artichokes

  • 7 oz ground veal
  • 4 Artichokes
  • 1 Onion
  • 1.75 oz cream cheese
  • 3 tbsps grated Grana Padano
  • to taste White wine
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Olive oil
  • 1 Knob of butter
  • 1 sprig Parsley
  • to taste Penne Rigate

Preparation

  • In a pan, sauté the ground beef with the oil, add the cleaned and chopped artichokes, sauté everything well, give a splash of white wine, add salt, then some vegetable broth or a small piece of bouillon cube with a scant glass of water and cook for about 20 minutes.

  • When cooked, blend half of the sauce with a mixer, return to the pan, add the butter, the cream cheese (Philadelphia) or cream, a pinch of nutmeg, and grated Grana, mix well and blend all the ingredients together.

  • Cook the penne in plenty of salted water, drain, add to the sauce, mix everything well, add some fresh parsley and serve the creamy penne with ground beef and artichokes … enjoy your meal!
