Crispy Trees with Chocolate and Cereal

Crispy trees with chocolate and cereal are cute little holiday-themed sweets, beautiful to look at and good for snacking.

They’re a nice idea as a gift for family or friends, as a Christmas place card, or to decorate a cake, they are truly spectacular and brighten up the Christmas table.

It takes very little to make them and you can vary the colors using white and dark chocolate and different cereals like puffed rice, white or chocolate corn flakes, just use your imagination to create these cheerful trees that children also love.

Ingredients for Crispy Trees with Chocolate and Cereal

  • 4 Ice cream cones
  • as needed Puffed rice
  • as needed Cornflakes
  • 3.5 oz White chocolate
  • 3.5 oz Dark chocolate
  • as needed Colored sprinkles

Tools

  • 3 Bowls
  • 2 Small bowls
  • 1 Brush
  • Parchment paper

Preparation for Crispy Trees with Chocolate and Cereal

  • For the preparation of the crispy trees, prepare all the ingredients. Put the mixed cereals in separate small bowls.
    Break the chocolate and divide it into two separate small bowls. Melt both the white and dark chocolate in a bain-marie for about 5 minutes or for a few minutes in the microwave.

  • Take the ice cream cones and brush them generously with white chocolate, roll them in puffed rice, use your hands to make it adhere well. If necessary, add more chocolate where you will also attach the colored sprinkles.

  • Proceed the same way with the other trees, brush them with dark chocolate and make the chocolate corn flakes stick one at a time, add more chocolate and here too the sprinkles.
    Do the same with the other trees, alternating colors and cereals you like the most.

  • Let the chocolate dry well, put the trees in the fridge. If a piece falls off, you can insert it later, keeping the chocolate warm for use.
    When the chocolate has hardened and the cereals are well attached, you can use the trees.

Tips and Variations

For a more colorful effect, you can also use food coloring like green, pour a few drops of coloring into the white chocolate, and dip the puffed rice as well to get green trees.
