Ingredients for the Non-alcoholic Aperitif with Citrus and Mint

  • 4 squeezed oranges (plus 1 orange sliced)
  • 2 squeezed lemons (plus 1 lemon sliced)
  • 5 oz tonic water (or mineral water)
  • 1 sprig fresh mint
  • to taste sugar (optional)
  • to taste ice

Tools

  • 1 Citrus Juicer
  • 1 Pitcher

Steps for the Non-alcoholic Aperitif with Citrus and Mint

  • Wash the oranges and lemons well, they should be organic and untreated, also rinse the mint sprig.
Pour the tonic water or, if you prefer, room temperature mineral water into the pitcher, add sugar (if you prefer a sweet drink) and mix well to dissolve it.
Squeeze 4 oranges and 2 lemons, be cautious of the seeds, then pour the juice into the pitcher along with the water, and mix well. (If you prefer, you can strain the juice using a sieve)
Add the orange slices, lemon slices, and mint leaves, and mix everything well again. Let the citrus and mint drink rest in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours.
The rest is to release all the aromas well and obtain a sufficiently fragrant drink.
Serve the aperitif cold accompanied by a slice of lemon or orange, some mint leaves, and ice cubes.

Storage and Variations

The non-alcoholic aperitif should be stored in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours, obviously the longer the infusion time, the stronger the aroma taken from the drink, but do not go beyond two days of storage.
The aperitif is a non-alcoholic drink and thus can be enjoyed by kids too.
If you prefer a stronger spritz, just add some Aperol, vodka, or limoncello to the drink.
