Pan-Grilled Jumbo Shrimp

Pan-Grilled Jumbo Shrimp are an excellent refined and delicious seafood main course and can also be served as an appetizer.
A very simple and quick recipe to prepare that can be made with both fresh and frozen shrimp.

The shrimp can be cooked and grilled in a regular non-stick pan; I used a ridged grill pan, or on an electric grill or barbecue grill.
For a good cooking result, grill the shrimp with their shells on so they remain juicy and flavorful inside.

After cooking, you can serve them simply with a drizzle of olive oil and lemon slices, or accompany them with a fresh salad or dress them with a fresh dressing of olive oil, lemon, and chopped parsley.

Now let’s see how to proceed with the cooking.

Preparation for Pan-Grilled Jumbo Shrimp

  • Clean the shrimp: with a toothpick, remove the black vein located on the shrimp’s back by sliding it out from the head, then rinse the shrimp well under running water.

  • If you want, you can remove the head, but for aesthetic purposes, it’s better to present them whole, don’t remove the shell either, they are cleaned after cooking.

  • Take a non-stick grill pan, grease it with some oil, heat it up, then place the jumbo shrimp. Sprinkle with some salt and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.

  • For optimal cooking, cover the pan with a lid so that the steam doesn’t escape and the shrimp stay softer inside.

Anna recommends…

You can cook the shrimp in a pan or on a grill plate simply like this or with a dressing.
If you have leftover shrimp, you can peel them and use them the next day for a fresh and tasty salad or to prepare a first course.

  • Can I cook them in an air fryer?

Yes, certainly, place them on the basket, spray a little oil, and cook at 320°F for about 25 minutes, turning them halfway through.
