- 3 slices cooked ham
- 3.5 oz shredded mozzarella for pizza
- 1 egg
- 20 pickled capers
- mixed seeds as needed
- A few leaves basil
- pink pepper as needed
Tools
- 1 Pizza cutter
- Cookie cutters star various sizes
- 1 Parchment paper

Steps
For preparing the tree, you can fill the entire puff pastry or just the triangle for the shape of the tree.
Unroll the puff pastry, fill with tomato sauce, sprinkle with oregano, then add the slices of ham and mozzarella cut into small pieces.
Cover with the second roll and then with the help of a pizza cutter, cut out a large triangle in the shape of a tree.
Make sure the outer edges adhere well, and with your finger, indent a part forming a small scallop.
With the excess pastry, create the base for the tree, a small rectangle, a large star for the top, and many smaller stars to decorate the tree.
Brush the tree well with beaten egg, sprinkle with mixed seeds (chia, sunflower, flax, sesame), then add the capers and pink pepper.
Transfer the tree onto a baking tray and then bake for about 30 minutes at 356°F, checking carefully, as cooking times also depend on the power of your oven.
The puff pastry Christmas tree is ready when it takes on a golden amber color and is well puffed and flaky.
Serve it either warm or cold with basil leaves and cut into small squares

Storage, Tips, and Variants
You can fill the puff pastry tree with different ingredients according to your tastes.
If leftovers, it can be stored in the fridge for a few days but loses some of its crispness. I recommend reheating it in the oven before serving.
