  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 3 tbsp Breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup Grated Grana Padano Cheese
  • 2 slices Cooked Ham
  • 5 slices Provola Cheese
  • to taste Olive Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 Lemon

Preparation for the Simple and Tasty Artichoke Puff Pastry

  • To prepare the puff pastry, start by cooking the artichokes.
Clean the artichokes by removing the outer leaves, cut them into wedges, and soak them in water and lemon for 5 minutes.
In a pan, pour two tablespoons of olive oil and the garlic clove, let it brown for a few seconds, then add the artichokes and half a glass of water. Add salt and cook for 10 minutes or until the artichokes are softened.

  • Open the puff pastry roll and place it with all the baking paper in a 9.5-inch diameter pan, prick the bottom with a fork, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and a little grated Grana Padano cheese, which helps absorb moisture, and then pour half of the chopped artichokes onto the pastry, add the slices of cooked ham and provola cheese and the rest of the artichokes left in wedges.

  • In a small bowl, beat the eggs with 2 tablespoons of grated cheese and a pinch of salt, pour it over the puff pastry covering all sides. Sprinkle again with grated Grana Padano and breadcrumbs and fold the edges over the filling by about 3/4 inch, then place the pan in a preheated oven at 392°F, on the lowest rack of the oven.

  • Bake the filled savory puff pastry in a fan oven for about 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 356°F and continue baking for another 20 minutes. Halfway through, raise the pan one shelf to get a good gratin. Naturally, times change by a few minutes depending on the power of your oven.

When the pie is golden and puffed, it’s ready to be served.

Remove the savory pie from the oven, let it cool slightly, slice, and serve!
