Preparation for spectacular baked potato roses
Peel, wash, and then slice the potatoes with a mandoline or slicer. They should be thin and all the same thickness. Rinse them well and then soak them in water for about 10 minutes.
This helps to remove the starch and better shape the potatoes. After the necessary time has passed, rinse them again and then start forming the roses.
Roll a first small slice, continue this way with the other slices.Always try to start placing the other slices where the previous one closes, helping to hold them with your hand. Once you’ve reached the consistency of a rose, place it in a silicone, aluminum, or parchment paper muffin cup, lightly greased with oil.
If there are empty spaces, insert more slices inside the muffin cup, shape the slices well to achieve the look of a real rose, then drizzle with a bit of oil and a pinch of salt.
Place the muffin cups on a baking tray and transfer them to a preheated oven.
Bake the potato roses in a static oven at 392°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes, cover the surface with a foil for the first 15-20 minutes to prevent burning, remove it towards the end and let the potatoes brown well.
The cooking time for the potato roses also depends on the power of your oven, sometimes it takes longer, sometimes less, check by eye when they are well cooked.
For a crunchier effect, remove the muffin cup a few minutes earlier and continue cooking the potatoes without it!Serve the baked potato roses on a serving plate, accompany them with a base of green salad and some cherry tomatoes for a touch of color to the dish.
