Truffles with Almond Paste and Candied Oranges

The truffles with almond paste and candied oranges are delightful treats that are prepared in just a few minutes, small fragrant and very tasty balls!

A very simple recipe made of a soft blended dough of candied peels with soft almond paste, two sweet and fragrant ingredients with the addition of bitter cocoa that with its aromatic touch breaks the very sweet taste of these truffles.

These chocolates are perfect for a dessert accompanied by tea or coffee, excellent to prepare for Christmas holidays also as a homemade gift!

For the good outcome of the truffles, you need good and fragrant homemade candied peels, I recommend reading my recipe and making them yourself, the process is simple.
If you can’t find almond paste or marzipan, replace the same amount with blended almonds and sugar.

  • 3.5 oz Almond paste
  • 3.5 oz Candied orange peels
  • to taste Bitter cocoa powder

Preparation for the Truffles with Almond Paste and Candied Oranges

  • The preparation of these treats is very simple and quick, and only 3 ingredients are needed.
    Weigh and place the candied orange peels in the mixer container, start the speed and blend them coarsely.

  • Take the almond paste, it must be very soft, otherwise break it up, blend it, and mix it with the candied peels. If you can’t find almond paste, you can use marzipan.

  • Alternatively, replace the weight of the almond paste with almonds, granulated sugar, and a splash of orange juice to make the dough soft, then add the blended candied orange peels.

  • Now prepare the truffles, take small pieces of dough and round them with the palm of your hands forming many balls. Place them on a sheet of parchment paper, if they are very soft, chill them for 10 minutes in the freezer.

  • After chilling, roll them well in bitter cocoa, dust again with a sieve, place in a container and serve your truffles, delicious cold from the fridge!

Store the truffles in a closed box in the fridge and consume within a week.
If you find them too sweet, use less almond paste and more candied peels.
The bitter cocoa coating can also be replaced with melted dark chocolate.
