Grandma’s sweet pizza with custard.
Simple, creamy, delicious.
Grandma’s sweet pizza with custard is a very simple dessert to prepare, creamy and super delicious. A layered dessert prepared with a slightly thicker custard alternated with layers of cookies, this dessert is as simple, economical as it is ancient, always prepared in almost every Neapolitan home for special occasions or to reward children.
Try it, it will win you over at the first taste.

Ingredients
- 1.3 liters of fresh whole milk
- 1.6 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups sugar
- zest of 1 untreated lemon
- 1 vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 1 package dry cookies (About 12 oz type Oro Saiwa)
- 1 shot glass vermouth liqueur (or 5 long coffees)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- as needed colored sprinkles
Tools
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Saucepan
- 1 Hand Whisk
- 1 Spatula
- 1 Baking Dish
Steps
In a pot, beat the eggs with a whisk, add the grated lemon zest.
Mix the sugar with the flour well and add them gradually to the eggs, always stirring with the whisk, mix well until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
Gradually add the milk to the egg mixture, without stopping to stir with the whisk, also add the vanilla.
Once the mixture is well combined, transfer it to the heat with a very low flame (I also use a flame diffuser) and cook, always stirring with the whisk until the cream thickens and becomes creamy.
Turn off the heat, stir vigorously with the hand whisk, and cover the cream with cling film in contact, so it covers the surface well, let it cool for about ten minutes.
Syrup:
Put 200 ml (about 7 oz) of water in a small pot with a tablespoon of sugar and dissolve well.
Turn off the heat and add the vermouth, stir (if there are children, use milk instead of the syrup).
If you prefer to soak the cookies with coffee, just prepare them nice and long.
Let’s prepare grandma’s sweet pizza.
Once the cream is lukewarm, quickly dip the dry cookies one at a time on both sides in the syrup, arrange the first layer of cookies on the bottom of a glass baking dish or a rectangular mold.
Cover with 2/3 of the custard, distributing it evenly over the entire layer of cookies.
Cover the cream with another layer of cookies soaked as before in the syrup.
Cover the cookies with half of the remaining cream, distributing it evenly, and continue with another layer of cookies soaked in the syrup.
Cover everything with the remaining custard.
Decorate with colored sprinkles or a dusting of cocoa.
Let it cool at room temperature and then store in the fridge until ready to serve.
Put the sugar and lemon zest in the bowl 20 seconds/Speed 7.
Add all the other ingredients 11 minutes,/194°F/ Speed 4.
Put the obtained cream in a large bowl, cover with cling film in contact and let cool for 10 minutes.
Syrup:
Put 200 ml (about 7 oz) of water in a small pot with a tablespoon of sugar and dissolve well.
Turn off the heat and add the vermouth, stir (if there are children, use milk instead of the syrup).
