Stuffed Pandoro Star. (With step-by-step photos)
And once again this year, New Year’s Eve has arrived. The last days just flew by, and tomorrow is New Year’s Eve 😊. Here I am, thinking about a last-minute dessert, something quick to make, and my brilliant invention from years ago came to mind stuffed pandoro star. So I thought, why not make it again with a different filling? That’s how the Stuffed Pandoro Star was born, a delicious dessert.
The stuffed pandoro star is a fancy and original idea perfect for preparing a last-minute dessert, a special way to bring pandoro to the table and thus win over the whole family, both adults and children 🙂

- Difficulty: Very Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 8 people
- Cooking methods: No cooking
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 pandoro
- 8.8 oz mascarpone
- 0.85 cup fresh whipping cream
- 2.5 oz powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp rum (or rum flavoring)
- to taste cocoa powder
- to taste chocolate stars
Tools
- 1 Electric Whisk
- 1 Spatula
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Sieve
Steps
Cut the last 2.8 inches off the pandoro; this is what we’ll use as the dessert (you can use the rest to prepare other recipes like this delicious coffee zuccotto or with Nutella).
Hollow out the pandoro from the inside, leaving about 0.6 inches of border and as a base underneath (as in the picture).
Now let’s prepare the mascarpone cream:
Place the cream with the powdered sugar in a large bowl and start to whip it with the electric whisks; as soon as it’s semi-whipped, add the mascarpone and continue whipping until you get a fluffy and creamy mixture. Also, add the liquor (alternatively, you can add a vial of rum flavoring), whip for another moment to combine everything.
The mascarpone cream is ready.
Now we can proceed to fill our pandoro star by filling the dug-out part with the mascarpone cream and leveling it with a spatula (as in the picture).
P.S. we can enrich the filling even more with some chocolate (like melted chocolate or Nutella to use as the first layer before the mascarpone cream).
Dust with cocoa (make sure it’s a light dusting, or it could irritate the throat), decorate with sugar stars or whatever you prefer (berries, chocolate chips, etc.).
The Stuffed Pandoro Star is ready to be enjoyed… ENJOY YOUR DESSERT!
P.S. You can prepare this dessert either at the last minute or in advance; in that case, store it in the fridge and take it out 10 minutes before serving 🙂
