Preparation of Bread Swirls with Mortadella
To prepare the bread swirls with mortadella, first, if you’re using bread instead of long sandwich bread, overlap 2 slices of bread slightly and flatten them with the rolling pin to prevent them from breaking when you roll them up.
Spread a thin layer of spreadable cheese (you can use mayonnaise if you prefer).
Cover the slice with thinly sliced mortadella without leaving empty spaces and leaving the edges free for easy rolling.
Place the cheese slices on top of the mortadella and roll each slice of bread tightly onto itself.
Wrap the bread roll tightly in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator to rest for at least 20 minutes.
After the resting time, remove the plastic wrap, cut the bread swirls with mortadella into not too thin slices, and spread more spreadable cheese or mayonnaise on the surface.
Roll each swirl in the pistachio crumbs, making them adhere well, skewer each bread swirl with a toothpick, and arrange them on a serving tray.
The bread swirls are ready, cover them with plastic wrap and place them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
