Ingredients for Date, Cocoa, and Walnut Bonbons

  • 7 oz pitted dates
  • 1 oz walnuts
  • 0.5 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp soy milk (or other plant-based beverage)
  • 1.75 oz grated coconut (desiccated)

How to Prepare Date, Cocoa, and Walnut Bonbons

  • Remove the pits from the dates and shell the walnuts, then place them in the food processor.

  • Add the cocoa and the soy milk, which helps to make the mixture smooth.

  • Pulse briefly until you have a homogeneous dough that can be handled with your hands.

    Moisten your hands with water and take small amounts, forming balls the size of a walnut.

  • As you prepare them, place them on a cutting board, then arrange the grated coconut on a small plate or bowl and roll each Bonbon in the coconut to coat it.

  • Place them on a tray and let the bonbons rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before enjoying them.

Storage, Tips, and Variations of Date, Cocoa, and Walnut Bonbons

The bonbons can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 days.

They can also be frozen and then thawed at room temperature before consuming.

Date, Cocoa, and Walnut Bonbons

Instead of unsweetened cocoa, you can use 50 grams of dark chocolate 🍫 melted; in this case, there is no need to add the soy milk.

If you have other nuts, you can add them by reducing the quantity of walnuts.
