Lemon King Prawns – Quick Recipe

Lemon king prawns are a tasty, easy and quick dish that can be prepared in no time and is great all year round — fresh in summer when we crave seafood and in winter perhaps as an appetizer for a family dinner; they always disappear quickly.

A very few simple ingredients accessible to everyone will make this dish a real delicacy to enjoy with family or friends. I prepared some by removing the head and shell, leaving only the tail, and left the head on others since at my house some prefer to eat them with their hands and remove everything themselves to truly enjoy the tactile pleasure of eating them.

Ingredients

  • 1.75 lbs King prawns
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 bunch Parsley
  • 5 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tbsp Black peppercorns (whole)

Preparation

  • To prepare the lemon king prawns, first clean the prawns thoroughly under cold running water.
    Then remove the legs, antennae and the shell, leaving the tail and, if you like, the head as well so they look nicer on the plate.

  • Then slit the back of each prawn with a small knife and remove the black vein—the shrimp’s intestine—lifting it out gently with a toothpick.

  • Preheat the oven to 392°F.
    Meanwhile prepare the dressing for the prawns: squeeze the juice of one lemon into a small jug, add the washed and chopped parsley, the salt and the grated lemon zest.

  • Place the prawns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and pour the dressing over them so all the prawns are moistened; sprinkle with whole black peppercorns to add further flavor.
    You can also bake thin lemon slices spread over the tray to add even more lemon aroma.

  • Once the oven has reached temperature, bake the lemon prawns on the middle shelf.
    Cook for 10–12 minutes, remove from the oven and serve immediately at the table and..

Notes
