Preparation of Meatballs alla Pizzaiola
Prepare the meatballs alla pizzaiola starting from the meatballs.
In a bowl, mix the ground beef with the egg, breadcrumbs, grated cheese, salt, and pepper, and work with your hands to combine.
Shape the mixture into as many meatballs as you prefer and set them aside on a cutting board.
Prepare the pizzaiola sauce by mixing all the ingredients in a second bowl.
Slice the mozzarella and let it drain from its preserving liquid.
Preheat the oven to 350°F, drizzle a little oil on the baking dish, arrange the meatballs, and bake them for 10/12 minutes, then remove them from the oven.
Add the pizzaiola sauce and bake again for at least 20 minutes.
Turn off the oven, place the mozzarella on top of the meatballs, and put them back in the oven long enough to melt the mozzarella.
Serve the meatballs in sauce piping hot, accompanied by some good bread for the final dip.
