Nutella Skillet Flatbreads

Nutella Flatbreads in a skillet are super easy to make with no rising and no frying, they’re truly delicious for an impromptu snack. My nieces ask for them every time they visit, and I let them mix the batter.

Learning through play, always with an adult nearby.

Since they’re so easy, they have fun making them and eat loads because when made with their own hands, everything tastes better!

Nutella skillet flatbreads

Ingredients

What you need for the flatbreads

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Half packet baking powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 3 1/2 oz Nutella®
  • 2 tbsp butter (to grease the skillet)

Preparation

Let’s prepare the dough for the Nutella flatbreads

  • To prepare the Nutella flatbreads, first mix the flour with the baking powder and sugar in a bowl.

  • In a measuring jug, combine the milk, sunflower oil, and egg, and stir with a fork to break the egg and mix everything.

  • Mix now the two mixtures, incorporating very well with a spatula the liquids into the flour.

  • Once all the liquid is incorporated, turn the mixture onto the counter and knead it quickly to form a compact and firm ball.

  • Roll out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 1/16 inches (2 or 3 mm) then use a 2.5-inch (6 cm) round cutter or a glass to cut out many circles.

  • Knead the leftover dough again and cut out more circles.

    Place a tablespoon of Nutella on half of them, then moisten the edge with a little water.

  • Cover with the other circles, pressing lightly around the edges to prevent Nutella from leaking during cooking.

  • Heat a non-stick skillet very well and melt a pat of butter, letting it spread over the whole surface.

  • Cook the Nutella flatbreads in the skillet for 3 or 4 minutes on one side, then flip them with a spatula and cook the other side.

Variations to skillet flatbreads

You can fill the flatbreads with jam of your choice or even with caramel cream or chocolate.

You can sprinkle with unsweetened cocoa powder for a less sweet and more intense taste.
