Preparation of Soft and Quick Microwave Chestnuts

  • 1- Preparing the chestnuts: Wash the chestnuts well under running water. With a sharp knife, make a cross-cut on the rounded part of each chestnut.

    This step is important to prevent the chestnuts from exploding during cooking.

  • 2- Soaking: Place the chestnuts in a bowl with water and let them soak for about 10 minutes.
    This will help to make them softer.

  • 3- Microwave cooking: Drain the chestnuts and place them on a microwave-safe plate. Add a pinch of salt if desired.


    Cover the plate with a microwave-safe lid or a sheet of baking paper.

  • If you have a microwave with a crisp function and a crisp plate, preheat it for 2 minutes, place the chestnuts, and activate the crisp function for 4 minutes.
