AIR FRYER POLENTA CHIPS

The polenta chips are a crispy snack with a flaky, golden texture. Prepared in an air fryer they are much healthier and easier to make. Cooking polenta chips is a great alternative to the classic potato chips, especially for those looking for a gluten-free option that’s still full of flavor. The preparation involves first cooking the polenta (see here how to make polenta) which is then left to cool in a mold to form the classic polenta loaf from which to cut the chips. To speed up the recipe, you can also buy the ready-made loaf available in supermarkets. Perfect as an appetizer, aperitif, or side dish, the polenta chips can be served alone or with sauces, like a cheese cream or pesto, for a burst of flavor that will satisfy even the most demanding palates.

Recipe: polenta chips

First, remember to get a polenta loaf, you can buy it ready-made or prepare it at home (see how to make it here).

  • I usually prepare the polenta loaf at home, letting the freshly made polenta cool in a loaf pan; often it’s what’s left after making a good first course.
To make the chips, I turn the cooled loaf onto a cutting board, then with the help of a cheese slicer, I cut many small slices; I recommend pressing the tool in such a way that the pieces remain as compact as possible.

  • Once the slices are cut, place them on the air fryer tray without overlapping them too much; if necessary, cook in batches (if desired, you can also use parchment paper for air fryers).
Cook at 392°F for 10 minutes, then salt and serve.

  • Their light and flaky texture, combined with a rustic and slightly sweet flavor, makes polenta chips an irresistible alternative to more traditional snacks. Ready in no time, you can decide to prepare them even at the last moment, as long as you always have a loaf ready in the fridge!
