Round puff pastry filled with ham and cheese, many small pastry bites shaped like round ravioli, delicious savory snacks, quick and fresh just like the cheese and cooked ham balls, perfect as an appetizer or for aperitifs. To make the round puff pastry ravioli recipe you need few and simple ingredients: a round puff pastry roll, some cooked ham, a bit of spreadable cheese and a few grams of sesame or poppy seeds to decorate, in a few steps the bundles will be ready for baking.
The filled puff pastry recipe is very simple, to prepare these tasty appetizers you need to get a round cookie cutter of 2.4 inches in diameter and proceed as you would with fresh pasta ravioli: cut out the pastry disc, put the filling in the center, and then close the ravioli by overlapping another circle of puff pastry.
I won’t go into more detail but I invite you to follow me in my kitchen to better explain, through the photographic steps, how to make this bite of goodness…but in the meantime, start to unroll the puff pastry and prepare ham and cheese.

Ingredients
With a roll of puff pastry weighing 230g, you will get 10 pieces of filled puff pastry.
- 1 roll puff pastry
- 5.3 oz fresh spreadable cheese
- 2.8 oz cooked ham
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
Tools
- Mixer
- Pastry cutter round diameter 2.4 inches
Recipe
Put the spreadable cheese in a bowl,
add a tablespoon of olive oil, a pinch of nutmeg, salt, and pepper,
then mix the ingredients until you get a smooth mixture.
In a food chopper place the cooked ham,
press the button and chop it finely.
Add the chopped ham to the cheese mixture,
mix the mixture well again,
then with damp hands form 10 balls.
Unroll the puff pastry and with a 2.4-inch pastry cutter cut out 20 discs,
in the center of 10 of these, place a cheese ball and brush the edges with egg white (set the yolk aside for later),
then place the remaining puff pastry circles on top and seal the perimeter by applying slight pressure with the prongs of a fork (like you do with ravioli).
Beat the egg yolk together with a tablespoon of remaining egg white
and brush the entire surface of the bites.
Place the filled puff pastry circles on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and sprinkle with sesame and/or poppy seeds.
Bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for about 12 minutes or until golden brown, remove from the oven and let cool.
Did you see how easy it is to prepare these puff pastry appetizers filled with ham and cheese with the help of the photographic steps? I made them round like ravioli, but of course, you can make them square, rectangular, diamond-shaped, it’s up to you to choose the geometric shape!
Storage and Tips
Storage: you can store the already cooked puff pastry snacks with cheese and ham in the fridge for 1-2 days covered with plastic wrap.
Tips: you can shape these delicious appetizers however you want and replace the ham with another cured meat. If you prefer, you can decide to skip using sesame seeds for decoration.
If you use gluten-free cured meat and puff pastry, it will also be suitable for those with celiac disease.
