  • to taste black peppercorns

Preparation of Savory Pie with Artichokes and Mozzarella

  • First, take the rolls of puff pastry out of the fridge and set them aside.

  • Drain the artichokes in oil well using a colander, then place them in a food processor and blend them almost into a pâté.

  • Once blended, transfer them to a bowl and add the grated Grana cheese and a generous sprinkle of fresh black pepper, then mix.

  • Now blend the mozzarella as well.

  • Once blended, add it to the artichoke and Grana cheese mixture. Mix well to combine everything.

  • Now take a roll of puff pastry and unroll it on the baking pan, leaving its parchment paper.

Pour the artichoke mixture and spread it evenly.

  • Cover with the other roll of puff pastry, making sure they match well. Then join the edges and close tightly to prevent the filling from coming out.

  • Once the edge is done, pierce the surface with a fork.

Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 20 minutes.

  • Then remove from the oven and with the help of a plate, flip the pie and put it back into the baking pan.

  • Pierce the surface with a fork and return to the oven again at 356°F, but this time for 15 minutes.

Once cooked, let it cool for a few minutes, then turn it over to the nicer side and serve.

Useful Tips

I didn’t use salt, but if you want to add it, I suggest tasting the filling once you have added all the ingredients and obviously before spreading it.

If you prefer, instead of pepper, you can use chili powder, or if there are small children, use some aromatic herbs like oregano and rosemary.
