Preparation of Spiced Apple Cake
In a bowl, pour the slightly melted butter, then add the brown sugar and start mixing with the whisks until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Then add the eggs and mix again.
Once the eggs are incorporated, add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, a pinch of fine salt and mix everything well.
Now pour the milk into the mixture and mix until well incorporated.
Finally, add the vanilla extract and the spices, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
Mix everything and set aside.
Now peel the apples and slice them no thicker than 1/4 inch.
Once all the apples are sliced, add them to the batter and mix with a spatula.
Leave a few slices to place on top of the cake as decoration.
Butter and flour a 10.2-inch springform pan and pour in the apple mixture. Finally, decorate with the apple slices set aside.
Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 40 minutes.
Once cooked, let it cool at room temperature before removing from the pan.
And voilà… the spiced apple cake is ready to be served, perhaps accompanied by a good cream ice cream.
Useful Tips
I used Golden apples but you can easily use Renette apples as well.
Regarding the spices, if you don’t like too strong flavors, add them little by little until you reach the dose you prefer.
Always do the toothpick test before removing the cake from the oven to see if it’s cooked.
