Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1/3 cup sunflower oil (+ 1 tablespoon for greasing the pan)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- to taste powdered sugar
Tools
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Electric Whisk
- 1 Cake Pan
- 1 Spatula
- 1 Spoon
Preparation Water Cake with Chocolate Chips
In a large bowl, pour the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and packet of baking powder, and give a quick stir with a spoon to mix the powders.
Then add the sunflower oil, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and start mixing with the electric whisks until all the oil is incorporated. Don’t worry if lumps or balls form.
Now pour in all the water and mix, always with the whisks, until you get a smooth and homogeneous batter.
Now grease a bundt cake pan and then pour half the batter.
Sprinkle with half of the chocolate chips and cover with the other half of the batter. Finally, sprinkle with the remaining chocolate chips.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes.
Always do the toothpick test before taking it out of the oven to see if it is cooked.
Once cooked, remove from the oven and let cool completely before removing from the pan.
And voilà… the water cake with chocolate chips is ready to be served, perhaps with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Useful Tips
If instead of the bundt cake you want to make a classic cake, I recommend doubling the doses because otherwise, the cake would be very low.
Instead of dark chocolate chips, you can obviously use milk chocolate chips.
In place of sunflower oil, you can also use corn oil or mixed seed oil. I do not recommend olive oil because it tends to be a bit overpowering in flavor.
