American Street Food Corn-dogs

in

Today with the recipe for corn dogs, we move to America with one of the country’s most typical and famous street foods! The American street food corn dogs are, in simple terms, skewers of sausages that are dipped in a thick creamy batter before being fried to perfection. In the fridge, I had mini sausages but of course, the “normal” ones that we always find at the supermarket are also perfect.

The batter is prepared by mixing white flour with the finest cornmeal, the fioretto (while the bramata is excellent for making polenta) and then adding the egg and milk. The corny dogs appeared for the first time at the fair in Texas in 1940 and under the name of pronto pup at the Minnesota fair in 1941.

In 1946, The Cozy Dog Drive-in was born in Springfield, and also in this year, the first Hot Dog on a Stick location was inaugurated in California in Santa Monica. You will find many recipes for American street food corn dogs online (even though this one is really excellent) with minimal differences in the weight of the ingredients, but the one and only key characteristic is that the batter must be very thick and dense because only in this way will it wrap the sausages well like they are enveloped in a delicious and crunchy shell on the outside and tender on the inside. It’s essential to pair them with mustard and ketchup but also barbecue sauce or mayonnaise.

It’s one of those tasty and very easy recipes to make in summer to take on vacation and enjoy snacking with great pleasure!
