Apple Biscuits for Fido

The apple biscuits recipe for FIDO the dog, was born almost from a summer bet made on the beach with my sisters, my brother-in-law, and his sisters.

We were talking about the blog, how it’s going, what recipes I make, and I was complaining a bit because in the summer, interactions with people drop a lot, especially on FB, and almost as a joke, they suggested diversifying the audience of the publications, maybe making baby food or food for dogs and cats!

Honestly, I was a bit puzzled because children, in terms of their psychology, behaviors, progress, language acquisition, and so much more, I had studied them at university, and even though I had a child, I have no idea where I put the recipes for the first baby foods!

I also know, from talking to other moms, that the approach to weaning has changed a lot now compared to what was done for my son Andrea, who is now grown up, and honestly, I see myself a bit out of a serious commitment on this topic!

Dogs? Cats?? However, I told myself, I could learn which ingredients are allowed and get to know this world of which I am completely ignorant, having only FOR NOW, a bunch of plush dogs and cats!

NUTRITION AND HEALTH OF OUR DOG requires sticking very strictly to a determined list of ingredients allowed for nutritionanimal , since some foods are to be completely avoided as they are toxic and indigestible!

Forget about chocolate, nuts, and grapes, but also onion, garlic, raw egg (but yes to boiled), raw potatoes, raw fish, avocado, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggplants, and all foods that are too salty and too sweet!

Go ahead with vegetables like carrots, spinach, peas, celery, and green beans, but also potatoes, oats, rice, and pasta.

Most dogs are lactose intolerant, so it’s necessary to use lactose-free foods or plant-based drinks, and cereals should also be avoided, possibly replaced by regular and sweet potatoes.

NOW LET’S GO TO THE APPLE BISCUITS RECIPE FOR FIDO, the little house dog!

These homemade apple dog biscuits are simple, sugar-free, and perfect as a snack. If you wish, you can also add grated carrot to make the apple and carrot version.

I don’t have any other recipes for dogs, sorry…

I indicated 30 pieces, but it depends on the thickness and the mold, and mine is too small, actually!

Tools RECIPE APPLE BISCUITS FOR FIDO the dog

  • Food scales
  • Bowls
  • Baking trays
  • Baking paper
  • Forks

FOR THE PREPARATION OF APPLE BISCUITS RECIPE FOR FIDO the dog

  • I beat the egg with the small amount of olive oil indicated just above with a fork.

  • I wash and peel the apple and grate it finely then adding it to the mix just made.

  • I now add the rice flour little by little, always mixing to get a non-sticky dough that I then spread between two sheets of baking paper.

I had among the many these molds and made these biscuits, taking care to “dip” the molds in rice flour as I proceeded to make them, to facilitate extraction later…

  • I arrange them on the oven tray lined with appropriate paper and bake for 10/15 minutes at 356°F static.

  • Once they are ready and well cooled, we can offer them to our FIDO!

    Bye! Annalisa
