Chocolate Cracked Cookies

This recipe is from a very kind lady (hello Franca and thank you again!) who posted the photo of these chocolate cracked cookies also known as craquelé or chocolate crinkles in a cooking and recipe group on Fb..

The recipe seemed easy to me, and I thought of trying it out. Given the great taste and simplicity in making them, here they are, Mrs. Franca’s chocolate cracked cookies!

With these quantities, you will get (of these dimensions) about 24/25, and I confess that it was so hard not to eat them all so that I could leave them for my son, who was outside Bologna.

These chocolate cracked cookies are also delicious the next day, and with their very chocolaty taste, they are ideal for accompanying your breakfast coffee or any sweet break of the day.

They are also quick to make but require a mandatory rest in the freezer for about 20 minutes or more if put in the fridge (but I recommend the freezer, though…^_^)

Ingredients RECIPE CHOCOLATE CRACKED COOKIES

  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 3.5 oz Dark Chocolate
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • as needed Powdered Sugar

  • Microwave Oven
  • Stand Mixer

Preparation RECIPE CHOCOLATE CRACKED COOKIES

  • Melt the dark chocolate with the butter in a double boiler or microwave, stirring the mixture well.

  • Using electric whisks, work the egg with the sugar.

    Now add the melted chocolate with butter and then the sifted flour with baking powder.

  • The mixture is rather creamy and sticky, but don’t worry and put it in the freezer for about twenty minutes.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.

    Line a baking dish with parchment paper.

    Once the time has passed, take the cold mixture and make many balls about the size of a walnut, which you will roll, carefully immersing them in powdered sugar.

  • Once covered with sugar, put the chocolate cracked cookies on the tray, bake them, and let them cook for about 10/12 minutes.

  • They will become beautiful, or at least to me they seem really delicious and beautiful chocolate cracked cookies!
